Being one of hip hop’s slept on gems, Mozzy has been dropping consistent heat since 2011 but it was in 2016 when people really started to see what was up when he dropped his Mandatory Check effort. Truth be told, he is one of the best west coast talents out today and while he may still be overlooked to a certain degree, that clearly isn’t going to stop him from dropping fire projects — those sleeping will just have to catch up when they can. The Sacramento rapper is actively proving his own worth to west coast rap and it is truly a beautiful thing to see. With projects like 1 Up Top Ahk, Gangland Landlord, Beyond Bulletproof and more under his belt, Mozzy is currently on a run that will only stand the test of time when it is all said and done.
Today (Sept. 17), he drops off his brand new Untreated Trauma album.
Lately, there has been some interesting comparisons that fans have made in regards to Mozzy. Two of them that “shook the room” was Houston Texans safety Lonnie Johnson Jr. saying he was the closest thing to the late Nipsey Hussle. On the other hand, YG said that Mozzy was the closest thing to the late Tupac Shakur. With music being a subjective matter, it is evident that there will be all sorts of opinions on things. Many will agree, many will disagree — but that is all apart of the game.
Untreated Trauma serves as the follow up to Mozzy’s 2020 solo effort Occupational Hazard and his joint album Kommunity Service with Compton’s own YG, released earlier this year in May. When it comes to Mozzy and his work ethic, there is no ceiling and he is fully aware of it.
