Styles P had a very interesting take on the ongoing feud between Drake and Kanye West. During an interview with the “I Am Athlete” podcast, the “Good Times” emcee said the beef between the two men was “worthless.”
“It’s really an egotistical and prideful battle,” he said. “Think about what we’re doing right now. One guy is saying I’m a certified lover boy, right? One guy titled the album after his dead mom. God bless the dead, much condolences. Why are we comparing them?”
The LOX emcee then went on to say what he liked about each rapper’s new LPs.
“Sonically, I like Drake’s album better,” he added. “Content-wise, I like Kanye’s album better. I don’t have to put myself in a box to say which one is better. I have two fucking individuals in myself that say, ‘Content-wise this guy’s relating to his mom, talking about Christ and all kinda other shit. This guy’s talking about rich niggas, money, chicks he forgot, people mad at him, how much money he got, chicks he love who left him.’ He’s singing about girls, he’s singing about Christ.”
Styles P then went on to suggest what Drake and Kanye should do to end their vendetta. “They ain’t even fighting, they ain’t arguing…Go the fuck around the corner to square up or fucking hug. … They should both shut the fuck up,” he said.
While Drake and Ye have very different albums, both projects have garnered major numbers since their release. Donda moved 313,000 album units, landing at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The LP broke several records, including becoming Spotify’s most-streamed album in a day this year.
However, the 6 God reportedly sold over 600,000 units in a week, becoming the biggest release for an album since Taylor Swift’s Folklore was delivered. Certified Lover Boy also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and singles from the LP took up nine out of 10 spots on the Hot 100. Drake’s album also broke Ye’s Spotify record and three songs from CLB became Apple Music’s most-streamed songs in 24 hours.
