Fans can also enjoy a visual for the Jazz Cartier-backed “CULT.”

The Van Buren Records collective clearly has no plans of slowing down. Back in April, the Brockton-based imprint released the compilation project Bad For Press, which saw 13 tracks and acted as a proper introduction for members Luke Bar$, SAINT LYOR, FELIX!, Jiles, and more. Then, just last month (Aug. 27), the crew returned with Black Wall Street, a five-track effort led by artist-producer AzizTheShake.

One particular standout from Black Wall Street is the bass-heavy, creeping cut “CULT,” which features Toronto talent Jazz Cartier and contains the kind of subject matter that’s sure to get concertgoers hype:

“I did sum I’m not proud of, I got traits I’m not Fond of I’m still me, this shit get real deep, yes this is a cult, I gotta make sure feel me, gotta ego that can’t kill me yea, I could make the floor lava when I need to yea, I could make a bitch fetch when I need to yea, I could make my wrist wet when I need to yea, all them niggas fake all them niggas see through yea…”

The Daymian Seasar Mejia and Tay Thai-directed video for “CULT” sees the group at a slightly eerie house function, with shots of a handcuffed Luke Bar$, women with red cups, and a television showing SAINT LYOR as he creates the concoction that seemingly has everyone under a spell.

Van Buren Records was reportedly birthed from childhood and high school relationships, and — in addition to emcees and producers — consists of fashion designers, videographers, engineers, and other professions that makes it such an efficient one-stop shop in regards to music and media. The entity’s name comes from a popular “Seinfeld” episode, when main character Kramer found himself mixed up with a street gang known as The Van Buren Boys.

And if you want to hear some live music from the label, be sure to catch Van Buren Records’ artists on tour on 9/10 in L.A., 9/13 in NYC, and 9/24 in Boston. Press play on both Black Wall Street and the aforementioned video for “CULT.”
