This past weekend, G Perico blessed his fans with his latest drop Play 2 Win, which comes with 11 dope cuts and a few assists from Remble, 03 Greedo (who appears on two tracks), and BlueBucksClan. The project, which is executive produced by Sorry Jaynari, was preceded by the singles “Spazz” and “5 Freeway.”
On the aptly titled “Play 2 Win Intro,” Perico shows love to his currently incarcerated collaborator — “I can’t wait until they free Greedo” — and makes it crystal clear that he’s never swerving off the proverbial road to success:
“Money, power, respect, if it ain’t at least five hundred thousand then it ain’t a check, yeah, if these walls could spit bars, I talk about my life, and that shit made me a star, number one in the section that I’m from by far, I thought niggas woulda loved you but they caught me off guard, my back against the wall I’m gon’ bet it all, I play to win, and bring thе game back to my dogs, Innerprize click…”
Play 2 Win follows a slew of releases from the South Central emcee, including Free, Welcome To The Land, Lover Boy Slim, No Love In LA, and LA Summers. Perico also continues his expansion into the fashion world — most recently, he held a successful pop-up for his popular Blue T-Shirt brand in West Hollywood store Fred Segal. Last year, he delivered his unique, nostalgic vibes to songs like Eric Bellinger’s “Scenarios,” Jay Worthy’s “The Routine,” Royce da 5’9”’s “Young World,” Curren$y’s “Run Thru,” and Terrace Martin and Denzel Curry’s “Pig Feet.” Prior to that, he teamed up with Roc Nation for the well-received Ten-Eight.
Press play on G Perico’s Play 2 Win. Given his worth ethic, don’t be surprised he delivers plenty more albums by year’s end.
