Last month, EST Gee unveils his latest body of work Bigger Than Life Or Death, a 15-track offering with additional features from Yo Gotti, Pooh Shiesty, Lil Durk, Future, Young Thug, and more. Following previous visuals from the project for “Lick Back,” “Capitol 1,” “Riata Dada,” and the title track comes another for “5500 Degrees,” an A-list posse cut alongside Lil Baby, Rylo Rodriguez, and 42 Dugg. The single sees production from Enrgy Beats, who makes good use of Juvenile and Mannie Fresh’s classic cut “400 Degreez.” As such, the artists deliver boastful bars like a second coming of the Hot Boys:
“If I ain’t a young shiner, then what do you call that? Fuckin’ niggas’ hoes, he mad, textin’ in all caps, beef broad day, lay a nigga down, wave cap, overkill drill, spin at the building the wake at…”
Directed by Diesel Films, the accompanying clip for “5500 Degrees” sees EST Gee and his equally iced out collaborators in a white room with three-wheel motorbikes, fellow crew members, and all of the usual facets of the rich lifestyle. Elsewhere, 42 Dugg joins his Louisville cohort at a table with stacks of money, while Lil Baby does some of his contribution while riding around in an SUV.
It’s already acknowledged that EST Gee is currently one of the hottest in the game, but no stamp of approval matches that from JAY-Z himself. As previously reported by REVOLT, Gee spoke on his talk with Hov during an interview with Complex:
“He told me, ‘Let me bring you down to the Super Bowl with me so we can kick it, man … We get in the studio, make sure you don’t bring your ghostwriter with you.’ … He was dead serious about it. That’s how I know he’s a street nigga who made it down to the big level.”
