FBG Duck, born Carlton Weekly, was shot and killed in Chicago on Aug. 4, 2020.

This weekend, several friends and family members of slain Chicago rapper FBG Duck gathered in the exact spot he was killed last year for a memorial. FBG Duck, born Carlton Weekly, was shot by four people in a drive-by shooting around 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 4, 2020, REVOLT previously reported.

The shooting took place in Chicago’s Gold Coast area, which is known as a luxury and boutique shopping district within the city. A man and woman who were with the 26-year-old rapper were also hit by bullets and taken to hospital for treatment, police said at the time.

Duck was a rising rapper in Chicago’s drill scene. His song, “Slide” was remixed by 21 Savage and he released four projects — along with other members of his Fly Boy Gang — within the last five years. Duck also feuded with Lil Durk’s protégé King Von, however it’s believed the two settled their differences before they both died.

At Duck’s memorial, his mother held back tears as she delivered a heartfelt message to the crowd. “Here in this very spot, where we lost Carlton also known as FBG Duck, it’s been a hard year. It’s been a long year,” Weekly said. “We’ve accomplished so much within a year of my sons presence not being here. A little bad mainly good and my message that I send to yall from the heart. I really want better for our children, our race, our culture.”

“My son…. In spite of whatever somebody tried to say everything you did was for your family for your friends for your children… and I want to just tell you, your brother and your sister and my momma and everybody whose presence that I feel in me that keep me going because I know what it is,” she continued. “I just want to say thank you God for blessing me with my son for 26 beautiful years.”
