Come July 16, fans will be able to check out Pop Smoke’s second posthumous release, a self-titled offering that will see 17 cuts for fans to enjoy. The album was first announced in last month’s trailer that saw the Brooklyn emcee in different stages of his life — a life that tragically ended well before its time.
Alongside said trailer was a reveal of Pop Smoke’s final track — a 30-second outro that sees the late talent speaking to listeners about remaining steadfast in regards to chasing your dreams and ambitions:
“That’s what I be tryna tell the young niggas, like, just stay focused, you understand? You know what I’m sayin’? Keep your mind straight on the prize, don’t let nothin’ get in between, you know what I’m sayin’? Gotta focus up, you know what I’m sayin’? You gotta be fully focused, can’t let shit get in between the way, you and your goal, you gotta just do it, it’s nothin’ more, nothin’ less, you can do anything as long as you’re winnin’…”
Last year, the world got to hear the well-received body of work Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon, which saw 19 tracks and additional features from Quavo (who made three notable appearances), Lil Baby, DaBaby, Swae Lee, Future, Rowdy Rebel, 50 Cent, Roddy Ricch, and more. The project was a massive commercial success as well, landing Pop Smoke a number one placement on the Billboard 200 thanks to 251,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release. A deluxe version of Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon eventually surfaced with 15 more songs and collaborations with the likes of Fivio Foreign, Jamie Foxx, Burna Boy, Gunna, Young Thug, and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie.
