Just last night, R&B duo VanJess delivered a buttery smooth live performance of their “Slow Down” song. The two paid a visit to The Tamron Hall Show to share this rendition, decked out in beautiful matching outfits and surrounded by a setting as serene as their voices. On the song, the songstresses open up with their signature harmonies before delving into the opening verse:
Oh, you never get mad, you keep things objective, then wave a white flag/ Discuss, then we love, oh, we pray, then we up, mmm/ We fight, then we trust, oh, the world could break in two/ But I believe that you wouldn’t, oh, I do
I like it when you’re simple, treat me like a lady/ Do things with a purpose, do things with intention/ I like it when you’re real with me, barely gotta question, focused on the plan/ I love what we havе, babe
VanJess latest Homegrown EP arrived filled with nine smooth R&B cuts and a great list of assist from names like Phony Ppl, Jimi Tents, Garren, and Devin Morrison. Leading up to the release, they gave a teaser with the Jimi Tents and Garren-assisted “Curious” single. Their last full-length project was Silk Canvas in 2018, and the following year they would go on to release a project titled Silk Canvas (The Remixes). The latter body of work is filled with reimagined versions of their Silk Canvas hits, and the roster of features boasts names like Ari Lennox, Saba, Bas, and Xavier Omar. The original project included assists from Masego, Goldlink, Little Simz, Berhana, and Leikeli47.
In terms of other appearances from the lovely R&B duo, VanJess can recently be heard on Kito’s “Recap” track with Channel Tres, and also VanJess assisted Gallant on his Neptune EP.
