Looks like DJ Khaled may have another one — number one album, that is. According to Hits Daily Double, the We The Best Music founder is on pace to score his third number one album.
Hits is projecting Khaled Khaled will sell between 80,000 – 100,000 album-equivalent units its first week. The amount should be enough to place Khaled atop the Billboard 200 chart. Khaled’s last album to debut at number one was 2017s Grateful, which sold 149,000 album-equivalent units its first week.
On Sunday (May 2), five of the top 15 tracks on Apple Music’s U.S. Top 100 belonged to Khaled Khaled. “Every Chance I Get” featuring Lil Baby and Lil Durk is currently the number one song.
Khaled announced that he was working on a new album last summer. Shortly after, he released two Drake singles — “Popstar” and “Greece.” He’s been promoting Khaled Khaled ever since with snippets letting the world know when an artist sent their vocals in for the project. In an interview with “Entertainment Tonight” the 45-year-old DJ spoke about how he manages to wrangle up so much talent on his albums.
“You gotta give all praise to the most high,” he said. “God is the greatest and God’s hands was all on this album.”
When asked if artists ever decline his invitations to be on his albums, Khaled said, “It don’t be no … If there was a no, you gotta figure that out. My whole career, my life has said ‘no’ to me. If I listen to those no’s I wouldn’t be where I’m at right now.”
With 14 songs jam-packed with some of the biggest names in music, it may be difficult for fans to choose a favorite. The eclectic project offers listeners a bit of reggae, R&B and hip hop, with some pop sprinkled in for good measure.
“This is an album I made sure every song was my favorite,” Khaled said.
