At the top of the month, Toosii delivered a visually captivating video for his single “Back Together.” He’s now back for another offering, this time the heartfelt “what it cost” video, which was directed by Joan Pabon and executive produced by frequent collaborator Edgar Esteves. On the song, leaves it all on the track:
Yeah, talk to me nice or don’t talk to me twice, I been in my bag/ Paranoid, I got PTSD, thirty in my mag, I came from rags to riches, I ain’t tryna go back to the rags/ My new lil’ bitch been tripping, I ain’t really tryna be no dad/ I thought you seen it in me, I’m a star, won’t switch the wrap, a n***a switched the car
I left the Earth and ended up on Mars, that mean I’m sitting next to the stars/ I thought you seen it on me, I got scars, rather be judged by twelve than be carried by six but I still won’t see no bars
The video starts off with a clip of Toosii opening up about a family member who passed away and how his family motivates him to go harder. “Every day I wake up with a chip on my shoulder,” he says. “Like damn, I got all these people I gotta take care of. Shit if something happens to me what I’ma do?”
Most recently, Toosii can be heard handing out assists on tracks like NUSKI2SQUAD’s “Gone Too Soon” and FCG Heem’s “More Pain.” Toosii’s last full-length body of work was Poetic Pain, which was released back in September and included his “Love Cycle” single with Summer Walker. Prior to Poetic Pain, Toosii dropped his project Platinum Heart last February and gifted fans with the deluxe version as well, both versions containing no features. Platinum Heart (Deluxe) charted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums tally and also entered the Billboard 200.
