St. Louis’ very own NUSKI2SQUAD premieres his latest single “Gone Too Soon” today (Feb. 26), and he’s tapped none other than Toosii for the assist. The track is a taste of what’s in store on his forthcoming Lil Nuski project, which is set to make landfall on Mar. 26. The new accompanying music video for “Gone Too Soon” sees the two enjoying a fancy dinner before things take a twisted turn. On the track, NUSKI delivers his pain-filled lyrics over production courtesy of Cinematic founder Jonnyshipes:
Thought you was riding but you gone too soon, thought it was I who was close to you/ Losing myself, it left me so confused, now when I win it still feel like I lose/ Lost some of my guys, I don’t know what to do/ Broke inside, I ain’t got all my screws, respect my mind ‘cause you ain’t got a clue/ So think with yours before you front your move/ Don’t be a fool, steady hurting, I’m still grinding/ If you want me as good, nevermind it love/ I lost everything perfect timing, showed me the light to my friends, it blinded, love
A rising star of St. Louis, NUSKI2SQUAD powered through his breakout season in late 2019. After overcoming the passing of his father, as well as struggles with homelessness at only 16 years old, the young rapper has delivered tracks about upbringing and life in the trenches of Missouri. After garnering attention with his song “Live On,” NUSKI released his debut project Lost Child in July of 2020 with features including Yungeen Ace, Quando Rondo, and more.
Toosii’s last full length body of work was Poetic Pain, which was released back in September and included his “Love Cycle” single with Summer Walker. Prior to Poetic Pain, Toosii dropped his project Platinum Heart last February and gifted fans with the deluxe version as well, both versions containing no features. Platinum Heart (Deluxe) charted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums tally and also entered the Billboard 200.
