Just before the new year arrived, DJ Drewski teamed up with NY drill frontrunners Sleepy Hallow and Sheff G for the melodic tune “2020 Vision,” which sees co-production from Morgan O’Connor and AR and features the collaborators taking it to the streets on wax:
“I know you know the gang, we’ll knock a nigga off, look, 20/20 vision, nigga, we done seen it all, got a bag, wanted more, my shooters change the score, we wasn’t born rich, so you know we ain’t dying poor/
Said she love me, she ain’t loyal, ain’t nobody for you, but they gon’ get mad when a nigga don’t call, send the shotty at the floor, we caught ‘em at the door, you know what’s up with us, you fuck it up, let’s go to war/”
This week, “2020 Vision” now comes with an accompanying visual, directed by Nimi Hendrix and Secret Society Motion Pictures. The clip begins with a child and his family watching TV and dealing with the struggles created by last year’s COVID-19 pandemic. Elsewhere, DJ Drewski sets up a socially distanced party outside, with footage of that interspersed with pre-COVID shenanigans.
In addition to “2020 Vision,” Sleepy Hallow also dropped a single of his own titled “2 Sauce,” a Great John-produced effort that sees the Caribbean-American ready to hit the dance floor:
“I’m feeling way, way too saucy, too sauce, hop out the Wraith, hopped in the Porsche, new Porsche, and it’s racin’, huh, she said she don’t love me, why she still get naked? I’m a badman, baby, I’m Jamaican/”
“2 Sauce” is said to be taken from Hallow’s forthcoming body of work STILL SLEEP? which is expected to make landfall before year’s end, and (presumably) acts as the official sequel to 2019’s DON’T SLEEP. His previous drop, Sleepy For President, was released last June.
