If it’s one thing that Benny The Butcher will always do, it’s deliver — and he does it so well. Coming from a successful year with his Burden Of Proof album (executive produced by Hit-Boy) to his Da Respected Sopranos Gangsta Grillz mixtape with DJ Drama, to a number of stellar features, the Buffalo rapper continues to apply pressure every chance he gets. While we’re in a time where the most focus is on actual lyricism and such, the COVID-19 pandemic was the perfect time for Benny to start getting his flowers. To capitalize on his ferocious run, he and the wave provider himself, Harry Fraud, link up for the release of their joint EP The Plugs I Met 2.
Serving as the follow up to his June 2019 release The Plugs I Met, The Plugs I Met 2 is a bundle of heat and it shows a great display of Benny The Butcher and Harry Fraud’s chemistry in the lab. This is some of the Butcher’s best rapping to date and the Surf SCHL CEO played a great part in that. It’s like when Fraud connect with artists for full length projects, he brings the best out of them in one way or the other.
The 9-track effort has some solid musical contributions from the likes of 2 Chainz, Fat Joe, Jim Jones, French Montana, Rick Hyde and a posthumous verse from the late, great Chinx Drugz. These type of features are vital for Hip Hop — specifically in New York (Jimmy and French on the same record. If you know, you know).
In a recent sit-down with DJ Scream, the Buffalo lyrical menace shed some light on an unreleased record he has tucked with Drake and is waiting for the perfect time to deliver it to the world (and rightfully so). In the meantime, tap in to The Plugs I Met 2 below.
