Back in October, R&B duo THEY. returned after their hiatus to deliver their long-awaited sophomore album, The Amanda Tape. Today, they share a visual for one of the fan-favorites from the project. The new “Count Me In” video reveals a guest verse from Kiana Ledé, with the remix matching the same energy of the original but bringing on her twist:
Lil mama don’t mess around, she done heard it all/ Got no pity for ‘em, cold hearted don’t respect the talk/ But you still need some love, I’m here to show it to ya/ Put your heart in my hands. Can’t get you outta my head, if say it then I mean it/ If you need it, if you need me/ Baby count me in. If it’s chillin’ at the crib (Crib)/ Or sippin’ on a fifth (Fifth) Baby just count me in/ whatever it isIf you going through some shit
The Amanda Tape was preluded by “Losing Focus” with Wale, “Play Fight” with Tinashe, “STCU” with Juicy J,, and “Count Me In.” Through The Amanda Tape, Dante Jones and Drew Love continue to push their unique sound, using their talent and platform to address relationships on cuts like “Mood Swings” and “All Mine.” Prior to the project release, the duo dropped off visuals for “On And On” and “Count Me In.” THEY. first came onto the scene with the release of their 2017 project Nü Religion: Hyena.
About this song in particular, and the decision to tap Kiana for it, the duo had this to say:
“‘Count Me In’ was one of our favorite songs off The Amanda Tape and we always wanted to make a version that had a female response to it. We’ve known Kiana for a minute and have been fans of everything she’s been doing on her own. She sent over her verse and instantly had pushed the record into a whole new light. This song is about finding the right person that’s going to ride with you through thick and thin, no matter what stage you are at in the relationship.”
