R&B duo THEY. has returned after their hiatus, delivering their long-awaited sophomore album, The Amanda Tape. On their single with Tinashe titled “Play Fight,” Drew Love set the tone of the project in his verse about a tumultuous relationship:

“Screamin’ off my head like every other night. You do that shit on purpose, baby, I know why. I get on your nerves? Well, you’ve been on mine. ‘Cause you got no respect, I put that in check. We know how this ends. I stay drivin’ you crazy. You stay runnin’ your mouth. You stay gettin’ me started. You love when I shut it down.”

The Amanda Tape was preluded by “Losing Focus” with Wale, “Play Fight” with Tinashe, “STCU” with Juicy J,, and “Count Me In.” Through The Amanda Tape, Dante Jones and Drew Love continue to push their unique sound, using their talent and platform to address relationships on cuts like “Mood Swings” and “All Mine.” Prior to the project release, the duo dropped off visuals for “On And On” and “Count Me In.” THEY. first came onto the scene with the release of their 2017 project Nü Religion: Hyena. The debut arrived a few short months after they found themselves with the huge opportunity of opening up for Bryson Tiller on his Trapsoul tour.

In a recent interview, Dante spoke about how he’s learned to manage expectations as he navigates through life:

“I’ve learned that you can’t have too many expectations. Expectations are a dangerous thing. At the end of the day, you got to understand that it’s two different people with two different aspirations, and you got to respect each other’s space and each other’s own path. I think that it’s good to just be accepting. That’s one of the main things that I’ve learned. People grow and develop. It’s about being patient.”
