After teasing fans with his “Loaded Gun” visual a few days ago, Phora has officially unleashed his latest project heartbreak hotel. Equipped with seven tracks and a feature from Destiny Rogers, the new project speaking to love, heartbreak, mental health and perspectives on emotional hardships. The new drop comes paired with a new video for its intro track “colorblind,” where Phora delves into a reflective verse about love:
Made you feel foolish standing next to me, even still, you’re praying for the best for me. I don’t deserve the kindness you had left for me, look. I know I made mistakes despite how you react/ So I understand if reasons you refuse to take me back, listen. I lost a friend worth more than diamonds and gold. You let me slip once, I started to think how far I could go, I can’t apologize forever, that shit starts to get old/ I’m just sick of sleeping alone, empty words on the phone. I see the moon and it reminds me of you
The new 6th Element-directed video opens up with a disoriented Phora, who seems to have just been in an accident. It then follows him through the emergency room as the video flashes back to scenes of him being deeply in love. The video plays out to an unfortunate ending as word flash across the screen: “Sometimes we don’t appreciate the things that are right in front of us. Life doesn’t always give us second chances.”
In November, Phora released his album With Love II via his own imprint Yours Truly Records, now an independent artist after spending a chunk of his career with Warner Records. In celebration of the release, he shared an official lyric video of one of the stand out tracks “This Weekend” featuring Ty Dolla $ign. The project was preceded by singles like “Stars In The Sky” feat. Jhene Aiko, “Cupid’s Curse” feat. Kehlani, and the visual for “Traumatized” feat. Toosii.
