The end of Megan Thee Stallion’s undergraduate career is drawing near. The Texas rapper is reportedly set to complete her studies and graduate in just a few months. She announced the news on Twitter when responding to a troll who doubted her abilities to finish college amid her grueling schedule as a rap star.
“Mam Im ab[ou]t to graduate in the fall and still gone open my facility,” she wrote in a tweet that also gave fans an update on the status of her college education. “Hope you get them retweets doe.”
“They swore I wasn’t gone get that degree,” she said in a follow-up tweet. “SIKE.”
When the “Body” emcee catapulted from mixtape to mainstream success, fans learned she was still a college student. With intentions to graduate with a degree in healthcare administration and start a healthcare facility post-grad, she made some changes, transferring from Prairie View A&M University to Texas Southern University and from full time to part time student, all to accomodate her fame and chaotic schedule. The “WAP” star documented moments where she rushed to complete online courses and exams in the moments before or after some of her performances.
Last year, during an interview with PEOPLE, Meg revealed that her late mother and grandmother are two of the reasons she continued to pursue her studies in the midst of all her fame.
“I want to get my degree because I really want my mom to be proud,” she said. “I want my big mama to be proud. She saw me going to school before she passed. My grandmother that’s still alive used to be a teacher, so she’s on my butt about finishing school. I’m doing it for me, but I’m also doing it for the women in my family who made me who I am today.”
