Lil Uzi Vert may own many material items, but he also puts his money where his mouth is. The Eternal Atake rapper helped to pay part of a college student’s tuition just as he promised he would a while back.
In 2019, the Philadelphia rapper encountered Raheel Ahmed during a visit to the mall and was asked to lend some financial support to the student’s college costs.
“Yo Uzi, can you pay for my college tuition? Ninety grand — I go to Temple, bro,” Ahmed asked, to which Uzi responded, “Ninety grand? I could pay for that. Make sure you show me all of your transcripts, everything. Show me all your papers and everything, and you can get $90,000 from me.” He added that Ahmed must graduate from college prior to receiving any money.
Since then, Uzi and his Roc Nation label have covered $20,000 and are reportedly in the process of paying off the remaining balance.
“Ok, so as of right now, it’s in the process,” Ahmed recently told RapTV when asked whether Uzi kept his promise. “I’m not allowed to specifically say anything, but I know when I graduate, it’s going to be paid. Roc Nation has put down $20k. When I met him the second time, he told me Roc Nation has already put down $20k.”
Uzi has taken a page out of Nicki Minaj’s book as she’s also helped fund college students’ tuition fees via her Student of the Game scholarship fund. Last month, University of Louisiana at Lafayette alum Artavion Cook announced he became a college graduate with help from the Pink Friday star.
“I can’t believe that I’m actually saying this out loud, but I am an official college GRADUATE,” he wrote. “Bachelor of Science in Biology. Chemistry and Psychology minor. This day is even more special because @NICKIMINAJ paid my tuition a few semesters ago, and today is her birthday!”
