2020 was a great year for M Huncho. First, he released his sophomore album Huncholini the 1st in January, which saw 13 tracks and features from Headie One, Nafe Smallz, and D-Block Europe. Not only did three of the album’s songs, “Bando Ballads,” “Thumb,” and “Pee Pee,” land on the UK Singles Chart, the project itself peaked on the UK Albums Chart at the number five spot following its first week of release. Then, just before Halloween, the masked artist teamed up with Smallz for the joint album DNA, which also earned him a top ten placement on the same chart.
Last month, M Huncho decided to keep the proverbial party going with “Overpriced,” a melodic cut that sees production from Quincy Tellem and is centered around staying focused in the midst of various distractions — especially from those who aren’t even close to your position:
“Keep a distance, I don’t force it, millis get you on the Forbes list, got my people by side, so we shine like we flawless, I can never be a tourist, washed up olders, man I just ignore them, and I got 7 figures, tеll me who’s important?”
Directed by Suave, the accompanying clip shows a well-dressed M Huncho in the throws of wealth, performing from both inside a lavish mansion (including within its theater room), and out front where some high-end vehicles await. The end of the clip seems to tease another possible single, giving hope to a new full-length project sometime this year.
In a past interview with Capital Xtra, M Huncho revealed why he chooses to don a mask, a phenomena of sorts that REVOLT has touched on in the past:
“I like my privacy. That’s it. I don’t care about none of this stuff that comes along with what I’m doing.”
