It’s been a couple of years since PnB Rock released his sophomore studio LP TrapStar Turnt PopStar, which saw 18 tracks and additional features from Lil Durk, Tee Grizzley, XXXTentacion, Quavo, Diplo, Lil Skies, Tory Lanez, and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. A deluxe version of the album appeared a short time later, adding on five cuts and new assists from YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Roddy Ricch, and Lil Wayne. Overall, TrapStar Turnt PopStar was a success for the Philadelphia star, landing at the number four spot of the Billboard 200 thanks to 42,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week — making it Rock’s first top-ten debut.
Since then, fans have only received a few assists from PnB Rock on records by Ed Sheeran, Layton Greene, and others, along with a couple of singles — “Fendi” with Nicki Minaj and Murda Beatz, and “Ordinary” with the late rapper Pop Smoke. Now he connects with King Von (another life tragically lost) for the new single “Rose Gold,” which sees production from IRoccOnTheBeat, DJ Young Pharaoh, and London Jae. The track sees the duo harmonizing about their current wins and past losses:
“Two-tone rose gold, Cartier skeleton, I ride with my dawgs whether right or wrong, I got all these scars ‘cause my n***as gone, tatt ‘em on my back and put ‘em in my songs/
Caught him slippin’, left him on the news, gotta bite now ‘cause he love to chew, all these hoes in here, I gotta fuck me one, new Lambo’ with the trunk in the front, these n***as die better, they sweeter than punch…/”
In addition to a social media post showing some footage of King Von during better times, PnB Rock also hinted at a possibly completed visual waiting in the vault.
Until that clip is released, fans can enjoy “Rose Gold” in full below.
