Bow Wow performed for a packed crowd last night (Jan. 15) at Houston’s Clé nightclub, multiple outlets reported on Saturday (Jan. 16). The 33-year-old rapper shared posts on his Instagram Story after touching down in the Texas city and uploaded a video from the concert that showed wall-to-wall fans. In one clip, Bow could be heard performing his 2005 hit, “Like You.”

According to XXL, Bow Wow’s performance was the kick-off event for Larry Morrow’s All Black Birthday Weekend, which will see multiple parties and shows scheduled throughout Houston. According to a website with more details on the event, Meek Mill, Trey Songz, Fabolous and more are also slated performers.

On social media, some fans were upset with Bow for performing at the event in the midst of the pandemic. On Twitter, Bow responded to his followers’ concerns and cleared the air with fans.

“I promise [I wore] my mask… in the club up until I got on the mic. That simple,” he wrote. “[I] keep sanitizer on me at all times.”

Bow added that he’s worn a face mask to all the events he’s participated in since the pandemic began and said he was recently tested for the virus twice. Shad also claimed the events planned for the weekend were in accordance with the state’s COVID-19 rules.

“Man Texas is open. [Atlanta] is open,” he wrote. “I can’t help I live in a city where we been open since last spring.”

Responding to a fan who defended the concert, Bow wrote, “Yeah but still. I don’t want folks thinking I don’t care ya know.”

Prior to the Houston show, the “Growing Up Hip Hop” star hit up Instagram in search of the next up-and-coming rap star. In a post, he encouraged fans to “[tag] someone who is going hard and [that] I should check out.” Earlier this month, Shad announced that he’ll soon be signing off on his own rap career and revealed the title of his final album.

“I’ma do one more album. It’s gonna be the last one and it’s gonna be called Before 30, and I’ma have Snoop narrate the whole thing,” he told Hot 97’s “Ebro in the Morning.” “So, it’s gonna be kind of a different project; 10 songs.”

In explaining the record’s title, Bow said, “Everything I’ve accomplished, I’ve seen it before 30.” He also named Chris Brown as a potential collaborator on the effort.

“I’ma tap back in with [Chris] Brown,” he said. “I’ma give it to ’em one time.”

It’s not the first time that Bow has hinted at retirement, though. Back in 2016, the “Let Me Hold You” rapper tweeted that he planned to quit the rap game before turning 30 years old.

“I always said years ago I’d retire from music before 30,” he wrote. “I just can’t see myself at 30 years old rapping.”
