Tomorrow (Dec. 19) is the day E-40 and Too $hort will put on for Oakland on the Verzuz platform. The West Coast legends will briefly put aside their years long friendship to get competitive and give viewers a real show, but of course, as with any Verzuz battle, the two have been building up anticipation in their recent interviews.
Today (Dec. 18), Short was stopped by TMZ reporters who asked him a couple of questions about the upcoming battle. When asked whether he feared contracting Coronavirus, he said that that he’d be staying away from social events even if there wasn’t a competition on the way. He also assured fans that he and 40 would be tested before the showdown.
Unlike Gucci and Jeezy, who feuded ahead of their battle, the “Way Too Real” emcee said that he and 40 “have been the best of friends for 30 years,” which would make for a “really good show.” In regards to who he thinks will take home the W, he believes the Bay Area will be the “clear-cut winner.”
Hours later, Short talked to TMZ again, this time alongside the “U and Dat” hitmaker. Amid their conversation, the two poked fun at each other ahead of Saturday’s (Dec. 19) event.
“All this friendly stuff is cool, but I’ve been knowing 40 for 30+ years, I don’t think he’s going to be this friendly when we get in the battle,” Short said. “He’s prob gonna swing a baseball bat at me, something’s gonna happen. He’s probably gonna turn into the goon, the goon with the spoon and hit me with a spoon or something, you know.”
“That’s the same with this dude, he real sneaky, trust me,” 40 replied. “All I know is we got blaps, and ya’ll gonna have a ball.”
During the interview, Short explained the various ways he’s prepping himself for the showdown, telling his friend, “It’s gonna be on tomorrow. I love you.”
The “Sprinkle Me” emcee replied, “I love you back, but if you stay ready, you aint gotta get ready, and I’m well prepared.”
