Lil Baby posted a cryptic update on Twitter, which fans are hoping means new music on the way. The Atlanta native has been steadily teasing an upcoming drop and has now posted what could potentially be a release date.
“Dec 3rd,” he tweeted on Monday morning (Nov. 23).
Fans were quick to note that the date will also fall on Lil Baby’s 26th birthday. In the comments, the rapper’s followers sounded off on what they think he will be releasing next week — whether it’s a single, music video or album.
“He finna drop that album,” one person wrote.
“Fingers crossed we gonna be blasting lamborghini boys soon,” another tweeted, referring to Baby’s long-teased mixtape. Lil Baby first announced Lamborghini Boys last year. He hasn’t provided too much information about the project, except that its release has been delayed by the pandemic.
“Ima hold up on Lamborghini Boys Until We Bacc Outside!” he tweeted back in April.
The cryptic message marks the second time this month that Lil Baby has suggested new music. A few weeks ago, he declared he was done doing features because he is now in “#AlbumMode.”
If Lil Baby does come through with a new record next week, it will follow-up his high-charting album My Turn, which set the first streaming records of the year. Last night (Nov. 22), Lil Baby also performed a cut from the project — “Emotionally Scarred” — for the 2020 American Music Awards. The artist used the passionate track to encourage mental wellness. He finished up his set by portraying a message that read, “Protect Your Mental Health.”
Lil Baby ultimately lost out on both of his nominations at the awards show. The “Drip Too Hard” MC was up for New Artist of the Year, which Doja Cat won. My Turn was also nominated for Favorite Rap Album — Rap/ Hip Hop, which ended up going to Roddy Ricch’s Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial.
