A little over a year ago, IDK liberated his debut album Is He Real, a 14-track project that saw additional appearances from DMX, Pusha T, Tyler, the Creator, Burna Boy, GLC, and more. More recentlty, he teamed up with Kevin Durant to release the sequel to the 2018 mixtape IDK & FRIENDS, which also acted as the official soundtrack for the Prince George’s County-based documentary Basketball County: In The Water. That release saw nine tracks and assists from Alex Vaughn, Rico Nasty, Big Flock, YungManny, PnB Rock, Denzel Curry, and Juicy J.
Currently, the Maryland emcee is said to be working on his forthcoming release, said to be titled U SEE 4 YOURSELF. While these tracks aren’t confirmed to be a part of that project, releases like “In My White Tee,” “Mazel Tov” with A$AP Ferg, “Cereal” with DJ Scheme, Kenny Mason, and J.I.D, and last month’s “King Alfred” have ensured that the next body of work IDK brings forth is guaranteed to be one of his best to date.
In a past interview with REVOLT, IDK spoke on seeing commercial success without actually succumbing to the characteristics:
“Being true to yourself, talking about the issues that you wanna really actually talk about, not acting like you’re something else. But, understanding that maybe sometimes your shit gotta be shit you can sing along to. I was thinking that the same way when I made “Pizza Shop.” If you think about that first verse, and really even the second verse, you can sing-a-long to that whole song. I remember when I was making it, I was like, ‘yo I wanna say … I used to want to hang like Dae Dae,’ ‘cause I know that when I drop the beat at a show, and I say that, everybody’s gonna be about to say that.”
