Less than two days away from Gucci Mane and Jeezy’s Verzuz, and the anticipation for the showdown is higher than ever. The former rivals will, hopefully, put their differences to the side on Thursday (Nov. 19) at 8 p.m./5 p.m. PT to duke it out in front of millions of IG Live watchers to see which Trap OG will take home the crowd and bragging rights of the night.
To say that this battle came as a shock to many rap fans would be an understatement. Imagine everyone’s surprise on Saturday (Nov. 14) when they were just minding their own business when Gucci posted the announcement of him entering the Verzuz ring with Jeezy with the caption, “Tell buddy. Get ready Thursday Nov 19 @verzuztv Trap God vs Snow cone.”
The following day, Jeezy responded, which everyone was waiting for, for further confirmation of the surprising battle, “SAY lil guwop SEE YOU ON THE 19th. DON’T SEND YA CLONE! BIG SNO⛄️ #R2.”
However, today (Nov. 17), La Flare decided to turn things up a notch by trolling his former nemesis with a meme that pokes fun at Jeezy’s potential reaction in their upcoming Verzuz when Gucci plays “Truth,” his infamous 2012 diss track aimed at Jeezy. On the track, Guwop raps, “Go dig your partner up, nigga, bet he can’t say shit.”
This line reference’s the time in 2005 when Guwop shot and killed Henry Lee Clark III a.k.a. Pookie Loc, who broke into his home with a number of other robbers and began assaulting him. It would later be discovered that Clark was an associate of Jeezy. So, many people assumed the Thug Motivation 101 rapper had something to do with the robbery, which Jeezy denied.
Gucci would turn himself in for the fatal shooting, post bail days later, and have his murder charge dropped months later, as he claimed self-defense and there was no sufficient evidence proving the killing was an actual murder.
Thursday night is going to be one for the hip hop books…
