This week, much of the world is preparing for the release of the Playstation 5, as well as its flagship game Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Prior to said game’s official launch date, fans got to check out an official soundtrack, which is mainly scored by Insomniac Games creative director Brian Horton and famed music composer John Paesano. Adding to the project is none other than Jaden Smith, who has contributed the new single “I’m Ready,” a song that sees him singing and rapping from the perspective of the game’s main character over production from his MSFTS cronies OmArr and Josiah Bell:
“I’m fresher than fresh, I step out the steps, we’re all runnin’ for the flex, Pete told me I was next, I’m comin’ for next, there really isn’t no question/
Only superheroes in this section, only big bang is on the setlist, on top of buildings where I eat breakfast, then I shine like a new necklace, I’m ready to go…/”
Back in August, Jaden released his third studio LP CTV3: Cool Tape Vol. 3, which contained 17 tracks and a couple of features from Justin Bieber and Raury. CTV3 also acts as the latest installment of Jaden’s well-received Cool Tape series than began back in 2012 with his debut mixtape The Cool Cafe: Cool Tape Vol. 1.
Outside of the music, Jaden is playing a large part in helping his community as well. Last year, he, his JUST Water company, and foundation 501CTHREE teamed up with Michigan’s First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church and others to create a mobile filtration system designed to provide clean water to Flint residents. He also launched a vegan pop-up food truck called the I Love You Restaurant, which was able to deliver food to the homeless in Los Angeles.
