This past weekend, Saturday (Nov. 7) to Sunday (Nov. 8), some of your favorite stars duked it out on the basketball court for The Crew League and TikTok’s first-of-its-kind tournament for the chance to win $100,000 for the charity of their choice.
The event took place in Los Angeles, California. Hosted by Faze Clan, Justin Combs, and 24kGoldn; the games consisted of 10-team 4-on-4 competitions that included a recording artist as each of the teams’ captains with their managers, friends, fellow entertainers, and more as members of their team or “crew.” According to the event’s press release, some of the celebs who took part in the tournaments were Trippie Redd, Swae Lee, Russ, Jack Harlow, Lil Mosey, Lil Durk, DDG, G Herbo, The Kid LAROI, Lil Keed and many more.
After a lot of stiff competition, Swae Lee and his crew, which were named “Firefighters,” took the W and the $100,000 grand prize.
Commissioner and Co-Founder Of The Crew League’ and Grey Space Group Elie Maroun said about the event: “We want to showcase the music talent while also generating awareness around the ‘crew’ members. The talent captains cannot win a game without their crew — from the assistant / lawyer, to the best friend, etc. — the same way they can’t become superstars without them! Our hope is to give fans behind the scenes of their favorite artists and “crews” that help elevate them in every aspect of their careers.”
A next The Crew League Co-Founder Peter Jideonwo added: “We can’t imagine a more entertaining combination of hip hop music and smash mouth basketball.”
If you’re mad about missing the tournament in person, don’t trip! The first season of “The Crew League” is set to be released as a 10-part series on TikTok for fans who want to check it out.
