As with many other films this year, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run found itself in suspended animation following the Coronavirus pandemic, removing it from its intended summer release. Fortunately, the all-ages film has landed on Netflix UK — unfortunately, Americans will have to wait until 2021 to enjoy it due to apparent exclusivity rights. In the meantime, we are able to enjoy some music from the forthcoming soundtrack.
Enter Swae Lee, Lil Mosey, and Tyga, who have teamed up on the light-hearted cut “Krabby Step,” which is produced by Albert Hype and Tainy and makes several references to SpongeBob and his friends:
“I’m flipping them patties, I’m chillin’ with Patrick, then both pull up backwards and they full of laughter, see Sandy Cheeks, I’m burstin’ her bubble, a jellyfish lover, I’ll catch me a couple/
A magical world, the F is for fun, I’d run to the sun if only I could, now turn to your neighbor to make sure they’re swell, I probably will be forever be young, I’m feeling a little bit krabby, how can I be happy when people are spending me money/”
Currently, Swae Lee is also said to be putting the final touches on his forthcoming album HUMAN NATURE — he’s already released a slew of loose singles this year, including “Someone Said,” “Reality Check,” and “Dance Like No One’s Watching.” He’s also contributed to plenty of music from his peers, including French Montana’s “Out Of Your Mind,” Arizona Zervas’ “Roxanne (Remix),” Kane Brown’s “Be Like That,” Internet Money’s “Thrusting,” and the late Pop Smoke’s “Creature.”
