Among the many talents Guapdad 4000’s fans love him for, is the ability to deliver creative and entertaining visuals to go along with his tracks. On his latest offering “Alpha,” the Bay Area spitter lives out his anime-influenced street racer fantasy in the Chris Simmons-directed video. In the visual, Guap gets his bars off over the James Delgado-produced beat:
“I just pulled up in some Lamb’ like I’m sheep skinned. I’m not dark or light-skinned, I’m me skinned. I’m a hood n***a, but I’m not a street n***a. Even still, I’m too deep in it. Got a breathtakin’ b**ch so thick. I can’t breathe, RIP George Floyd, f**k all the PD’s. I done poured so much drink I can’t freeze. My trunk full, I can’t speed so I don’t.”
Most recently, Guap can be heard on the deluxe version of Deante Hitchcock’s BETTER album on the introspective track “Déjà Vu.” Guapdad 4000 shared his Dior Deposit s project back in 2019, which included a lengthy list of guest appearances including names like Maxo Kream, Denzel Curry, Slimmy B. G-Eazy, and more. The project was led by his “Gucci Pajamas” single with Chance the Rapper and the legendary Charlie Wilson.
In a recent interview, Guapdad 4000 delved into how he firmly believes he deserves respect as an elite lyricist:
“I ask for more people to go on Genius and read the lyrics. I’m so melodic most of the time; I know a lotta shit is going over people’s heads. I see the bars people quote, and it be the obvious ones. For some of these songs, especially these last two EPs, I’ve been dropping S-tier bars like this is an MMORPG or some shit. N****s just gotta pay attention. I think people respect me as a lyricist, but I’m up there when it comes to the complicated sh*t. I’m not tryna be the next J. Cole or Lil Wayne, the greatest rapper alive, but I’ve got the potential to be up there, so I’d like people to acknowledge that.”
