Musicians and artists are eager to get back on the stage, and Three 6 Mafia has announced they will be holding the first indoor arena concert in the United States since COVID-19 started. The pandemic forced venues to close their doors and artists canceled their shows in order to enforce social distancing.
Juicy J took to Instagram this weekend to announce the news and shared that the show will take place on Dec. 11 at the Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, claiming they received approval from Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear. The show will be hosted by Sean Da Don and will feature special guest Project Pat, and performances by Gem and Real Gates.
“@three6mafia IS GONNA BE THE 1ST ARENA CONCERT SINCE THE PANDEMIC! LETS STAY SAFE AND MAKE HISTORY TOGETHER!! THE GOVERNOR APPROVED!” the rapper captioned his post. “WE GONNA WEAR OUR MASKS! WE SOCIAL DISTANCING! WE GONNA BE IN GROUPS OF 4 ONLY!! 15% OF THE RUPP ARENA TIX ARE FOR SALE IN LEXINGTON, KY! THIS GONNA SELL OUT FAST! TIX ON SALE NOW @ticketmaster.”
Juicy J and DJ Paul took to the group’s Instagram to share video messages for their fans to get the tickets and to urge them to practice social distancing at the show. There are COVID-19 safety protocols that must be followed by attendees at the event. Masks will be required and tickets are being sold in pods of four people or less. Tickets are limited because the 21,017-seat arena will only be filled to 15% capacity, which includes 3,152 patrons and event staff. Ticket holders will also be subject to temperature checks before entering the venue.
“We have been in contact with the KY State Department Of Health for many weeks working out the details and coming up with a plan that fulfills the safety protocols recommended by the CDC and the Commonwealth Of Kentucky,” Lexington Center Corporation CEO Bill Owen said in a statement. “We are confident that the measures we have put in place will provide a safe environment for patrons to come out and enjoy live entertainment. We are excited for this opportunity to reopen our doors and welcome concertgoers back to Rupp Arena!”
Gov. Beshear announced the latest plan to reopen entertainment venues safely amid the coronavirus pandemic in July in an effort to keep the businesses afloat. The venue will have to have signage reminding patrons to wash their hands, to avoid touching their face and to wear face coverings unless they are eating or drinking.
Tickets for the show featuring Three 6 Mafia with special guest Project Pat are available now on Ticketmaster.
