Social distancing has given way to some epic Instagram events. Most recently, Teddy Riley and Babyface went head-to-head in an installment of Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s Verzuz series, which followed the likes of T-Pain, Lil Jon, DJ Premier, RZA and more.
Now, it appears the culture is in for yet another treat. On Monday (April 27), Three 6 Mafia and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony announced that the two legendary groups will soon battle it out on the next installment of Swizz and Timbaland’s Verzuz.
“Allow Me To Introduce You To The Face Off!!!” Three 6 Mafia founder DJ Paul wrote on Instagram, along with the virtual event’s official poster. “This Is Not A Battle. This Is A Celebration Between Homies of Over 50 yrs Combined Dropping Slap!!! Limited Merch For This Event Will Be Available So Save That Stimmy Check! ..This Thursday On My IG Live!!!”
Likewise, Krayzie Bone also announced the Verzuz event on his Instagram.
“This Thursday 5pm Pacific, 8pm Eastern time. Instagram Live Celebrating over 50 combined years of hits,” he wrote. “Limited edition Collab merch available.”
Since social distancing rules won’t allow the groups to appear together, Krayzie Bone and DJ Paul will act as each group’s representative. According to their Instagram posts, the Verzuz battle will go down at 8 pm EST this Thursday (April 30) on DJ Paul’s Instagram Live.
Swizz recently took to the ‘Gram to share the wild success from his Verzuz series, which has resulted in increased streams and social media followers for participating artists and — of course — the series’ app-crashing magnitude of viewers.
Due to its success, Timbaland even revealed that Verzuz has gained network attention. However, he’s most interested in providing some quarantined entertainment for fans.
“I mean, you know a lot of people contacted me and Swizz you know on a lot of things, but right now we just wanna keep it for the culture because it’s so organic,” he told TMZ. “We don’t wanna bring that part of the element in right away. We just wanna keep it where people are entertained because we living in a world where 16 million people lost jobs. We don’t wanna get into the politics of it. We wanna keep it natural and fun.”
Tune in to the next Verzuz this Thursday (April 30).
