With less than a month away from Election Day, Kanye West’s friends refuse to see him back down from his presidential campaign without a fight.
On Thursday night (Oct. 8), the Jesus Is King rapper posted a photo of a ballot on his Twitter page. He was not listed as a presidential candidate, but his name was written in at the bottom of the ticket. He captioned the post, “Friends writing me in.”
West’s name did, however, appear on the ticket alongside Roque De La Fuente as the vice president for the American Indepent party. As REVOLT previously reported, the right-wing group nominated the entrepreneur without his consent in hopes that he could deter voters from supporting Joe Biden. West’s focus, however, doesn’t seem to be on winning the election as someone else’s running mate.
West has been exhausting all efforts to give himself a fighting chance in the 2020 election since the start of his presidential campaign. The rapper reportedly spent $3.5 million just to get on the ballot in 15 states, but was rejected in three of them — Arizona, Ohio and Virginia — following allegations of voter fraud. He also missed deadlines and/or was nixed from ballots in Missouri, Wyoming, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, West Virginia and Montana.
Most recently, West tapped into his fashion side and announced the launch of presidential merch that included $60 hats and $160 hoodies featuring messages like, “Vote Kanye” and “God Save America.”
On his website, the “Through the Wire” hitmaker also listed his 10 areas of focus if elected president which include freedom of religion and police reform. He is also aiming to “provide leadership to restructure our country’s education system to serve the most at-risk and vulnerable populations” and “reform the legal system to provide true justice, equitable for all citizens.”
