Inglewood’s very own Casey Veggies keeps his cool bounce alive in his newest single, “Moonwalkin.’” The song follows his 2020 release, Fresh Veggies 2. On the new track, Casey Veggies flows over a smooth and groovy beat about feeling so good, it almost feels like he’s moonwalking:
“See you with your crew shawty, what it do shawty? You tryna play it cool but I’ma act a fool on it. I’ve been getting to know you but now I’m through talking, now we get so high, I feel like I’m moonwalking. She want a westside n**** that’s gone break the rules on it. Had to make my move on it, I can’t lose on it.”
Prior to this release, Casey Veggies dropped off the second installment of his series titled Fresh Veggies 2 earlier this year in July, with the first one releasing back in 2013. The 14-track project included guest appearances from Wale, Dame Don, SK8, Backwood Jones, 24hrs, Curren$y, Hit-Boy, and more. In 2019, he shared his project Organic, and later on unleashed the deluxe version of the project as well. The updated version saw features from Larry June, BJ The Chicago Kid, Dom Kennedy, The Game, YG, and plenty others.
In a recent interview, Casey Veggies delved into what it’s been like no longer being with a label:
“I wanted a certain integrity when it came to my creative process. I stopped worrying about the outside pressure and focused on me and my element. I went back to making music that felt good to me. Before getting heavy into the game, I used to play basketball. I drifted from that lane completely when I was 18. Shortly after, I met Hov and was signed to Epic Records and Roc Nation by the time I was 19. I was just a young kid following my dreams growing up in Inglewood.”
