Today (Sept. 2), Willie The Kid unveils his newest album Capital Gains. The new 10-track album from the Michigan emcee features Action Bronson, Curren$y, Roc Marciano, Eto, Kiyana and Tekh Togo. On the production side, we see contributions by Alchemist, Evidence, V Don, V12 The Hitman, The Beat Hawks, Brady James, Sport and Mozaic. Coming in hot right from the intro track “Free Parking,” Willie sets the tone right from the project’s very first bars:
“Last time sh*t went left and my n***as got right. Left a man where we stand, right arm in a sling, liberate like the left wing, equal rights. I take a stance, never took the stand. Game room in the East wing, I never punt. All is quiet on the Western front.”
Leading up to the official release was his track “Egregious” and “Brewster’s Millions,” the Curren$y-assisted single over an Alchemist beat. Shortly after, he swung back around with another release titled “Cork Fee” featuring Action Bronson and production from Brady James as the final effort before the full project was unleashed.
In 2019, Willie The Kid dropped the EP Heather Grey with Eto and V-Don. He also released the feature compilation Pearls, which totaled 20 tracks and boasted a lengthy list of features, including names like Styles P, Westside Gunn, Conway The Machine, Smoke Dza, Curren$y, Cory Gunz, Sean Price, and plenty more.
In more recent news, Willie The Kid provided assists on “Mexico City” with VH$, Tedy Andreas, and Raz Fresco and Eto’s “Rusty Stainless” with Rome Streetz. He also joined on as a producer for the new documentary “I Too Sing America: Langston Hughes Unfurled,” the documentary going into detail about the life of the African American writer and activist who gained notoriety during the Harlem Renaissance.
