Papoose just dropped off the first taste of his upcoming project, Endangered Species. The New York OG links up with two other NY rappers, French Montana and Conway The Machine to deliver a brand new track titled “Kickback,” showcasing the signature grit of NY rap. The full project is confirmed to drop next month on Oct. 9.
Endangered Species is Pap’s first release since 2019’s Underrated, which included features from Remy Ma, Angelica Villa, Musiq Soulchild, Casanova, and DJ Premier. In June, Papoose released “Tribute,” a song grieving the Black lives lost at the hands of the police, including George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Amadou Diallo, and more.
Papoose has always used his voice to speak on acts of injustice, as he previously released “Trayvon Martin Tribute,” which appeared on his 2012 mixtape Most Hated Alive. He also spoke to “The Real” with wife Remy Ma, about how he’s been dealing with life and death during the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic:
“One of my cousins passed away from coronavirus … one of my uncles passed away and the hospitals are so focused on COVID-19, that they’re not really catering to them. So it was a neglect thing but you can’t question God’s plan. I have a ton of friends who actually have coronavirus so it’s rampant. It’s really hit home.”
Conway The Machine is fresh off the release of his album, From King To A God. Spanning a total of 15 records, the project includes features from Dej Loaf, Method Man, Havoc, Lloyd Banks, Freddie Gibbs, Westside Gunn, Benny The Butcher, and more. French Montana linked up with rising rappers Mr. Swipey and Fivio Foreign for the “That’s A Fact (Remix),” keeping the New York collab spirit alive.
