Usher is definitely getting his fans really for a new album. Not has he already delivered the singles “Don’t Waste My Time” with Ella Mai, “SexBeat” with Lil Jon and Ludacris, “California” with Tyga,” and the socially charged “I Cry,” he’s also participated in Good Morning America’s “2020 Summer Concert Series,” performing some of his biggest classics to date for everyone still in quarantine. Now, he returns with another dope cut titled “Bad Habits,” which is produced by Pierre Medor and Lxrd Rossi and sees him singing about the very same relationship issues he plagued with during the Confessions era:
“I love love, I’m just bad at it, I just can’t escape all of these bad habits, I had way too many one nights, yeah, I keep messin’ up my love life, yeah…/”
The accompanying visual comes courtesy of legendary director Chris Robinson, and sees Usher finding his girl in possession of his phone, a clear sign that he’s been caught being unfaithful to some varying degree. The clip then morphed into a big dance number, all while Usher’s realization of his mistakes continue to make its way to the forefront.
Usher’s forthcoming release — said to be titled Confessions II — will follow 2016’s Hard II Love, his eighth LP that was initially released through the JAY-Z-helmed TIDAL platform that he co-owns. Despite its exclusivity, that project landed at number five on the Billboard 200 thanks to 38,000 album equivalent units sold.
In addition to “Bad Habits,” Usher also announced that he’ll be heading to a Las Vegas residency in 2021, performing at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace from July until January of the following year. He spoke on the decision to Billboard:
“I cannot wait to perform for an audience… In Vegas, I get a chance to create the show that I want, and I get a chance to be with my fans who’ve been cooped up for months and months.”
As we wait for that to take place, fans can press play on “Bad Habits” below.
