Earlier this week, Busta Rhymes unveiled a Chris Rock-starred trailer for his forthcoming album Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God, which acts as the sequel to his 1998 classic E.L.E. (Extinction Level Event): The Final World Front. Today, he blesses his fans with a new single from that project titled “The Don & The Boss,” which sees him connecting with dancehall legend Vybz Kartel. Produced by Schife, the two veterans deliver patois-infused rhymes about everything from voluptuous women to who’s still running the game:
“Bus’ Rhymes ah di champion, coulda never find a betta option, mi nuh wah none ah yuh friend dem, somebody p***y smell like onion and scallion/
Come stand up pon a champion, gun ravel bigger dan di Grand Canyon, all ah mi thug dem ah bad man, mek wi get rid ah all ah unu, subtraction…/”
“The Don & The Boss” marks Busta Rhymes first single in years. Prior to that, the former Flipmode captain had released an EP’s worth of loose singles over time, including “#TwerkIt” with Nicki Minaj, “Thank You” with Q-Tip, Kanye West, and Lil Wayne, “Calm Down” with Eminem, “AAAHHHH!!!” with Swizz Beatz, and “Get It” with Missy Elliott and Timbaland. He also collaborated with Vybz on the 2017 single “Girlfriend,” which also featured Tory Lanez. His last studio LP, Year Of The Dragon, was released back in 2012 and 14 tracks and appearances from Trey Songz, Rick Ross, Gucci Mane, Cam’ron, Maino, and more.
Even while still incarcerated, Vybz Kartel has continued to deliver his brand of music to the masses — two albums, To Tanesha and Of Dons & Divas, were released this year alone. Given his current output, fans can expect to hear plenty more new tunes from the self-proclaimed World Boss by year’s end.
