Just before the month of August hit, A$AP Ferg dropped off his latest single “Move Ya Hips,” which features assistance from Nicki Minaj and MadeInTYO. The hard-hitting cut is definitely the kind of track meant for the dancefloor post-quarantine, with both artists flexing plenty over production from Frankie P:
“Diamonds all on my gums, talkin’ my s***, I got runs, hole in my jeans like I’m Grunge, f***in’ that b***h in the buns/
She suck on my d*** ‘til it’s numb, pockets is fat like The Klumps, rappers is lookin’ like lunch, I’m makin’ a meal when I munch, woo/”
Now, the high-energy track comes with a new visual to match, which doesn’t feature any of the artists — instead, it tells a story of a man who purchases a sex robot to fulfill his fantasies. As the self-proclaimed short film wears on, the robot begins to malfunction, which ultimately leads to chaos and death. It’s essentially gives off the same vibes of a “Black Mirror” episode.
“Move Ya Hips” follows other 2020 releases like “Feel Some Type Of Way” and “Value,” the latter of which was released in January and seems to signal the return of the more aggressive, riot-inducing sound from Ferg’s Trap Lord days. The Harlem star also provided features for IDK and MadeInTYO on their singles “Mazel Tov” and “Square B***h,” respectively.
In related news, “Move Ya Hips” has also been receiving some flack from Nicki Minaj’s fanbase, as her devoted Barbz felt the single should have added another Billboard number one to the New York rapper’s list of accomplishments. Instead, the song debuted on the Hot 100 at a still very-impressive 19, with some sources claiming could have been higher if it were not for Ferg’s team dropping the ball on sales reporting.
Either way, fans can enjoy the visual for “Move Ya Hips” below.
