Along with game-changing mixtapes, Grammy Awards and a star-studded list of proteges, Lil Wayne is also known for his Tha Carter album series. The most recent fifth installment, Tha Carter V, dropped in 2018 and now, according to a new interview, the New Orleans-born legend appears to be plotting his next one.
While speaking with Variety, Wayne answered a question about his favorite Carter and suggested that a sixth installment is on the way.
“My favorite Carter album is the next one,” Wayne shared with the outlet.
Although he didn’t offer any further details about Tha Carter VI, Weezy has teased some new music recently.
During a Young Money Radio segment last month, the Funeral rapper and his guest Nicki Minaj discussed the possibility of releasing a joint album.
“We doing our joint album — a lot of the fans been asking about it. When we gon’ do this?” Wayne asked Nicki.
“You already know, your wish is my command,” she replied. “It’s scary to put a verse on something after you put a verse on it…. It’s like me really, really having to think so much. I gotta go hard. I can’t just, you know, wing it. So that’s the only thing I would be scared of. But I would definitely do it. Whenever you say the word.”
On another radio episode with Drake, the former collaborators also hinted at upcoming music.
“You have my word as a man and Mack [Maine], you can hold me to this when we get off the phone, I’m going to be in the studio,” Drake told Wayne during their conversation. “I’m going to be in the studio all weekend. By midweek or maybe Monday night, you will have at least two joints.”
Back in April, Wayne also revealed he was working on “somethin special” for fans.
