After an extensive hiatus, August Alsina is back with some new heat for his fans to enjoy over the summer. Following the announcement of his third studio LP The Product III: stateofEMERGEncy, the Louisiana crooner drops off two new singles titled “Rounds” and “NOLA.” Both tracks see Alsina paying homage to his old stomping rounds, with the latter of the two giving off a harder, more street vibe than the former:
“Want me to go back to the felonies and the cases, strip club gettin’ fake love from the ho with the ass, be basic/
Studio gettin’ f***ed up, on the Ciroc, no chasers, poppin’ me about two-four, six-eight Percs to the face then/
Couple Xans just to turn it down, walking ‘round lookin’ dumbfound, lookin’ for something to take down, really don’t matter I’m numb now/
Nothin’ to stop me from runnin’ down on a n***a, dumping rounds at a n***a, locked up with a life sentence…/”
In addition to the music, August Alsina has also been delivering parts of a documentary series in support of the album, which show August in his element, enjoying time with loved ones while also fighting an autoimmune disease — something that he’s revealed to his fans over the past several years.
The Product III: stateofEMERGEncy follows 2015’s This Thing Called Life, August’s last official release of Def Jam that saw moderate success on the charts. The forthcoming release is also the third installment of August Alsina’s Product mixtape series, the first two of which were hosted by DJ Scream and DJ Drama, respectively. His big label debut, Testimony, shot to the number two spot on the Billboard 200 charts in 2014, earning August a Gold certification.
Press play on “NOLA” and “Rounds” below. The Product III: stateofEMERGEncy officially makes landfall this Friday (June 26) via Shake The World and Empire Distribution.
