Swizz Beatz and Timbaland have turned Verzuz into a quarantine phenomenon. The Instagram Live battles and celebrations have been a way to bring the culture together to celebrate artists and black music.

During a recent Instagram Live chat between the two mega-producers, they spoke about the Beenie Man versus Bounty Killer battle and why they turned down multi-million dollar deals from “vultures” to keep Verzuz authentic and for the people.

“Tonight represented the authentic zone of why we didn’t sell 50% of the company for millions of dollars,” Swizz said. “The authentic zone of why we turned down millions and millions of dollars to the vultures just wanting put a name next to the name, but no. Respect is overdue.”

He continued, “We haven’t made one cent off of Verzuz yet. That don’t mean that we not business. But, what we have is — Verzuz is a museum. It’s an educational, celebrational platform.”

“You can’t just leave these icons on the side of the road,” Timbaland added. “And to see them celebrate together, I was jumping up outta my seat like, ‘Yo, this is amazing.’”

Last month, Timbaland spoke to TMZ about how Verzuz was gaining attention from major networks.

“I mean, you know a lot of people contacted me and Swizz you know on a lot of things, but right now we just wanna keep it for the culture because it’s so organic,” he stated. “We don’t wanna bring that part of the element in right away. We just wanna keep it where people are entertained because we living in a world where 16 million people lost jobs. We don’t wanna get into the politics of it. We wanna keep it natural and fun.”
