It’s official! 112 will go head-to-head against Jagged Edge in a Verzuz battle. The showdown is set for Monday, May 25 at 8 pm ET on Instagram Live.
A few days ago, the battle between 112 and Jagged Edge was teased to fans while Swizz Beatz and Timbaland chopped it up on Instagram Live. Swizz called on Jermaine Dupri for help getting it set up.
“[Jermaine Dupri] keep that same energy!” Swizz said during the Live. “Jagged Edge versus 112. Can you make that happen, JD? Because a lot of people say what they want to see, but can you pick up the phone and make that happen?”
“I would love to see Jagged Edge vs. 112. Get them on the phone, JD. Let’s go,” he continued.
“Come on now, don’t play no games,” added Timbaland.
Dupri signed Jagged Edge to So So Def back in the 90s. They have a plethora of hits including “Promise,” “Let’s Get Married” and “Where The Party At.”
112 released classic hits like “Peaches and Cream,” “Cupid” and “Only You.” They were signed to Bad Boy Records in the 90s until they moved on to Def Jam Records in the 2000s. In 1997, they won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for their collaboration with Diddy and Faith Evans on “I’ll Be Missing You.”
Verzuz has kept us entertained throughout this entire pandemic. Most recently, fans got to relive the 2000s with the Nelly versus Ludacris battle with hits such as“Dilemma,” “Move Bitch,” “Country Grammar” and “Area Codes.”
A Beenie Man and Bounty Killer Verzuz battle is also lined up this Memorial Day weekend. The dancehall legends are set to go head-to-head on Saturday, May 23 at 8 pm ET.
