It’s been three years since Kendrick Lamar released his fourth studio album, DAMN. However, according to Top Dawg Entertainment CEO Anthony Tiffith, fans of the TDE rapper could be receiving new music soon.

Taking to Instagram Live on Sunday (May 17), Tiffith teased K. Dot’s return.

“Stay patient,” he wrote during the Live. “King Kendrick will return soon.”

DAMN. featured vocal contributions from Rihanna, Zacari and U2, as well as production from Tiffith, Mike WiLL Made-It, Alchemist, 9th Wonder and more. The album was certified triple-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America and won Best Rap Album at the 2018 Grammy Awards. That year, DAMN. was also awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Music.

Not much is known about Lamar’s follow-up project. Back in January, music journalist Bill Werde reported that the album was rock-influenced.

“Did anyone not named Beyonce release better, more meaningful back-to-back albums last decade than Kendrick Lamar? Are you interested to know that I hear from several friends that recording on the new album may finally be done? And that he’s pulling in more rock sounds this time?” Werde tweeted.

“Also, just to be clear, just because recording had hit a point where folks believe it may be finished — albums go back to the studio all the time after this point, and for a million different reasons,” he added.

This year, Lamar joined forces with Dave Free to launch multilingual at service company, pgLang.

“Our community speaks music, film, television, art books and podcasts — because sometimes we have to use different languages to get the point of our stories across,” the company’s mission statement reads. “Stories that speak to many nations, many races and many ages. That is why our writers, singers, directors, musicians and producers break formats when we build ideas and make them real for the curious.”

Lamar was also set to headline the 50th annual Glastonbury festival this year, which was ultimately canceled due to Coronavirus.
