Teyana Taylor has begun the rollout for her highly anticipated third studio album, The Album. After officially announcing the forthcoming LP last week, she has now shared a teaser clip for the “Bare Wit Me” music video from The Album on Instagram.
“A sneak peek of ‘BARE WIT ME’ from #THEALBUM #JUNE2020 no games this time around,” she captioned the preview. “S/O to da squad!”
According to her post, the “Bare Wit Me” video will be executive produced by Taylor’s all-female production team, The Aunties. As usual, Taylor also directed and choreographed the clip herself, which finds her and four other dancers rocking colorful suits. The wardrobe choice is a tribute to Michael and Janet Jackson, the latter who wore a similar suit in her 1989 music video for “Alright.”
Taylor’s The Aunties have been involved in several of her music videos, as well as last year’s mini web series starring Megan Thee Stallion, “Hottieween.” Most recently, Taylor and The Aunties collaborated on her widely praised “House Of Petunia” show at the 2019 Red Bull Music Festival New York, the inner workings of which were documented in the one-hour film, Assembly Required: Teyana Taylor’s House of Petunia.
The Album will serve as the follow-up effort to Taylor’s 2018 album, K.T.S.E. The sophomore LP was produced by Kanye West during his five-part recording sessions in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Taking over Red Bull’s Instagram Live last month, Taylor revealed that The Album would be “more of a vibe” and offered a few details about the upcoming project.
“We’ve been working on the album,” she revealed. “The album is done—that’s why I look crazy right now. Before I got on with y’all, we literally just did the listening of the album. Y’all gonna be so happy.”
“This album is definitely more of a vibe. I don’t really do fast songs like that,” Taylor continued. “There are some head-boppers. It’s not super-fast. You can dance and you can cry and you can ride.”
The Album is expected to arrive next month. See a sneak peek from Taylor’s “Bare Wit Me” video below.
