For his latest, Casanova has decided to reach back to his 2018 EP Commissary for his latest visual. This time around, it’s for the emotionally charged track “Why You Lie?,” which has him in full-blown singer mode, pouring his heart out to a woman who proved to be disloyal:
“I was on the block, you was out there fucking like a thot/
You’re own friend made you hot, you was getting money sucking c***/
Baby girl I made you famous, before me you was man less/
Telling my kids that lame s***, lying to there face girl you dangerous, now I gotta leave…/”
The video comes courtesy of Picture Perfect, and begins with Casanova — along with social media star Shiggy — performing the track in the studio, interspersed with shots of Cas and his girl going shopping. Viewers then see said girl getting money for sexual favors behind his back, which she denies during a FaceTime argument. Apparently fed up, Casanova makes a surprise visit home to find out the truth, making for what’s sure to be a violent ending between the Roc Nation artist and the other participant present.
Last year saw the release of Casanova’s debut album Behind These Scars, which saw 10 tracks and appearances from Giggs, Chris Brown, Gunna, Young Thug, Fabolous, and more. Speaking to REVOLT, he spoke on the struggle of releasing quality music versus the “gimmicks” that seems to be more common in the industry today:
Without the gimmicks and without the trolling, real music gets overlooked because that’s how people find their music nowadays. ‘Who’s that? Who got beat up? Who beat somebody up? Oh yeah, we like his music.’ Or, ‘We don’t like his music.’ Without you being on blogs every other day, the music doesn’t go far. But, to core followers and core fans that really enjoy great music, sooner or later, I’ll be alright.
