J. Cole’s Dreamville Festival has announced a new August date in wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Taking to Twitter on Friday (March 13), the North Carolina-set festival revealed it will now take place this August, instead of on April 4.
“We recognize there’s been a lot of questions about the status of Dreamville Fest and in light of recent developments we are excited to let you know we are moving forward with a new date,” the statement from the festival read. “While the state of North Carolina and local health officials continue to work to protect the well being of all in the state, we have worked collaboratively to identify the best possible outcome.”
The festival will now go down on August 29 at the Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh, NC, where it was originally scheduled to take place. Dreamville’s statement also says that original tickets will be honored for the new date and that refunds will be offered to those who can no longer attend.
“While this decision has been extremely difficult to make, the safety of our fans, artists, and staff is always our top priority, and nothing will ever take precedence over your well being,” the statement continued. “Our team is extremely committed to bringing the event to fruition for all our Dreamville family, and we can’t wait to see everyone in August.”
The festival’s lineup was slated to be announced this week, ahead of the original date. However, organizers are now working to reconfirm performers’ availability and “hope to announce the full music lineup as early as next week.”
The second annual Dreamville Fest marks only the latest event to be postponed amidst coronavirus concerns. Within the last few weeks, Coachella and all Live Nation tours have been postponed and SXSW has been canceled.
