Many will recall the megahit that was “Sicko Mode,” a collaboration between Travis Scott, Drake and Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee that appeared on Scott’s chart-topping album Astroworld. One of the most notable parts of that song was Swae’s chant of “someone said,” and — truthfully — he didn’t receive the same credit as his counterparts in regards to the song’s success. As such, the Mississippi star has revealed a new single inspired by those two words for fans to enjoy.
This week, the world gets to check out the new single — and visual for — “Someone Said,” which sees him talking about women and weed with reckless abandon:
“Yeah, I cut you off like a scissor, quicker/
Breaststroke, baby, I’m a good swimmer/
Playin’ with the gang, you know member/
I’m picky but my girl pickier/
Press the button, bars go up, you may answer/
Smoking on that loud, yeah, stickier…/”
As one-half of Rae Sremmurd, Swae Lee has helped create some club classics over the past, including earlier hits like “No Flex Zone,” “No Type” and the Nicki Minaj and Young Thug-assisted “Throw Sum Mo.” “Black Beatles,” which was taken from SremmLife 2 and features Gucci Mane, ended up becoming one of the biggest songs of 2016 and the duo’s first number one single across Billboard. More recently, Swae Lee has helped cultivate big songs for his peers, including French Montana, Wiz Khalifa, Jhené Aiko, Ellie Goulding, the late XXXTentacion, and — of course — Travis Scott. His solo project Swaecation — released as a part of Rae Sremmurd’s third album SR3MM — earned top 2018 album honors from several hip hop publications.
You can press play on Swae Lee’s “Someone Said” visual below, directed by Tyler Lee and Swae. Fans can probably expect a new solo album from him sooner than later.
