Although he’s still got several months left of his prison sentence, Tekashi 6ix9ine is reportedly already thinking about his post-prison safety. According to TMZ, the incarcerated rapper is planning to live far from New York after he’s released from prison, although any relocating will have to be approved by the federal probation department during his five-year supervised release.

The outlet also reports that 6ix9ine is looking to employ only former law enforcement officers or ex-military personnel that are licensed to carry firearms. He reportedly wants to steer clear of any bodyguards with gang affiliation. However, 6ix9ine’s former bodyguards previously said he’ll have to pay a hefty price for their replacements, due to the large security risk that comes with protecting the rapper.

6ix9ine would reportedly like to live outside of New York state with his family in a house with “Fort Knox-like security.” Although he plans to get back to the studio as soon as possible, he won’t be performing any time soon.

While the rapper may be fearing for his safety as a civilian, he previously expressed concern for his well-being behind bars, too. Last month, Judge Engelmayer denied 6ix9ine’s request to serve the remainder of his prison sentence at home, saying that his crimes were too serious to allow leniency.

“The Court recognizes that, as a result of security and related considerations that have resulted in his placement in a private jail, Mr. Hernandez, while incarcerated, may not have the same access to rehabilitative opportunities and programs as other Bureau of Prisons inmates,” Engelmayer had written in his decision.

Due to his cooperation with the federal government, 6ix9ine’s lawyer Lance Lazzaro has also expressed concern for his client’s safety in prison.

“As a result of [6ix9ine’s] cooperation with the government against multiple gang members with the Bloods, [6ix9ine’s] safety is still, and will continue to be for the foreseeable future, seriously at risk,” Lazzaro wrote in a letter to the judge.

Back in December, 6ix9ine was sentenced to 24-months in prison with five years supervised release for gun and racketeering charges. He was credited to 13 months time served and is expected to be released this fall, although his lawyer thinks he could be released sooner.
