Young Nudy came in swinging during the first quarter of 2020 by dropping his project Anyways, where he proved again he could hold his own on the featureless 16-track mixtape. Today (Sept. 18), the East Atlanta rapper is back with a new music video “All White.”
Young Nudy has been rapping since his 2014 project Paradise City, but started really gaining traction with his Slimeball series in 2016. His collaboration album Sli’merre with American record producer Pi’erre Bourne debuted on the Billboard 200 and reached the 62nd spot the following week.
A shining moment in Nudy’s 2019 was the track “Down Bad,” one of the lead singles off of the monstrous Revenge of the Dreamers IIIalbum. The track features him rapping alongside JID, Bas, J. Cole, Earthgang, and the record would later go on to climb up the charts and also receive a platinum certification from the RIAA. In 2020, the label released the deluxe version of the album, and revealed another Young Nudy placement on the song “Sunset” with head honcho J. Cole.
In an interview with REVOLT, Young Nudy’s manager, Trevor Patterson, broke down how the internet’s feedback and reaction from the streets mix during shows:
“The street reaction to a song, it kind of tells you what it’s going to do at a club. The internet reaction tells you what it’s going to do at a show. You have to have a balance between both. Really you’ve got to have a balance between what’s streaming well, what’s hot at the club, and what’s hot at the shows. “Loaded Baked Potato,” that’s his last song he performs. It’s by far his most popular song. Even more so than the song he got with [Lil] Yachty, or 21 [Savage], or Offset. It gets his best reaction at the club, the best reaction at the shows, and it’s best streaming song, by far.”
