After challenging 50 Cent to a Verzuz battle, T.I. is now taking the fight to JAY-Z. During a recent interview with All Def’s Roast This, the Atlanta mainstay argued why Hov is a better opponent for him.
“To be honest with you man, I want JAY!” Tip said. However, he admitted that it’s unlikely the Brooklyn-bred legend will actually join him in the virtual spotlight.
“Who can see [JAY-Z] sitting down doing a battle? If I’m a billionaire, I’m not finna do that, either, but me and 50 ain’t that far off,” he continued. “As far as our confidence, as far as our bankrolls go, we kinda neck and neck, whether he wants to [admit] it or not. And another thing, it’s personality. I need somebody who has a personality that won’t be so intimidated by my bravado.”
Earlier this week, Tip again challenged 50 Cent to go head-to-head with him in the Verzuz ring.
“Pull your ass up with 20 of your records, sit across from me, and get this work, man,” he wrote on Instagram, while wishing 50 a happy birthday.
The “P.I.M.P.” rapper brushed off T.I. with various memes, pushing Tip to set his Verzuz opponent sights elsewhere. However, he still believes he could beat 50 in a virtual showdown, telling Roast This that it’s “based on one thing: I’m doper.”
“I don’t care who sold how many records. I don’t care who has more number ones, whether that means I’m up, like I got more number ones or less number ones, more records sold or less records sold. Don’t care about that. I think my catalog is doper,” he said during the interview. “That sh*t goes from 2001 all the way to now.”
“You wanna hear something that sounds like that classic 2003, 2004, I got that. You wanna hear something a little more new-age, what Atlanta sound like now, I got that,” he concluded.
Since the beginning of Verzuz, JAY has been challenged to hypothetical battles at a volume that’s perhaps second-only to Dr. Dre, who was most recently pulled into the virtual ring by potential opponent, Juicy J.
